Arkansas Best 3Q Net Income Down 47 Percent

President and CEO Judy McReynolds said Arkansas Best's results reflect "weakness in the economy that contributed to reduced customer business levels and lower profitability at ABF."

Arkansas Best Corp. of Fort Smith reports third-quarter net income of $6.5 million, down 47 percent from $12.3 million during the same quarter last year. The decline comes amid weakness in the economy, reduced business levels and lower profitability at ABF Freight System Inc., the firm's largest subsidiary.
