Marijuana Vending Machine Company Sues Jerry Cox

LITTLE ROCK - A company that makes marijuana vending machines has filed a federal defamation lawsuit against the Arkansas Family Action Council and wants a judge to order the conservative lobbying group to stop using images of the machines.

A suit filed Friday names Family Action Council director Jerry Cox, who has led opposition to a ballot item that would legalize medical marijuana in Arkansas.

Cox used images of a Medbox marijuana vending machine during a news conference in which he argued the machines could be set up at convenience stores.

Cox says the suit doesn't address the merits of the ballot item. A lawyer for the company says he's trying to set a hearing in the matter and that the suit doesn't turn on the outcome of Tuesday's election.
