Bryan Burkhalter, past president of the Arkansas Restaurant Association and the Arkansas Hospitality Association, died Tuesday after a long illness, according to the Arkansas Hospitality Association.

Burkhalter was owner of Cock of the Walk restaurant in North Little Rock. He opened the franchised restaurant in 1984 and operated it for nearly three decades. In recent months, he had been attempting to sell the business.

Burkhalter's funeral will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1101 N. Mississippi, Little Rock.
