Former Log Cabin Democrat publisher Rick Fahr is now general manager and publisher of the online-only River Valley Leader.

Fahr in August left his job as publisher of the Log Cabin of Conway "to pursue other opportunities," the daily newspaper reported at the time.

Beginning last Thursday, Fahr now oversees the River Valley Leader's editorial, advertising and budgeting work. The Leader's office is in Russellville.

Among the changes Fahr plans to bring to the news organization is to stream video shot by a small unmanned aerial vehicle, or UAV, which the company should purchase within the next few weeks, he said.

The Leader's primary specialty is on breaking news, Fahr said, but "we also cover the traditional things that a local media outlet would." The digital publication reports on all of Pope County and parts of Johnson and Yell counties.

The publication's reporting staff of six contributes writing, photographs, videos and audio content to the company's website, RiverValleyLeader.com.

Fahr has worked in Arkansas media for about 20 years, including time as editor of The Courier in Russellville and as managing editor of The Jonesboro Sun.
