Alan English, publisher of the Log Cabin Democrat in Conway, on Dec. 6 named Richard Duke editor of the daily newspaper.

Duke, 41, had been serving as interim editor since September. He initially joined the newspaper’s staff as a city and county government reporter in December 2011. Duke now oversees production of the Log Cabin’s daily print publication and website.

Duke picked up prior publishing experience working for Arkansas newspapers such as the Benton Courier, the Cabot Star-Herald and the Pine Bluff Commercial.

Duke’s promotion came during a busy year of leadership transitions for the Log Cabin. Whit Jones, the paper’s editor of about four months, left the Log Cabin in June. Jones had replaced Phillip Lamb, who was editor for about nine months. Rick Fahr, publisher for about two years, resigned in August. And Jeff Wilson worked briefly as interim publisher before English was named the paper’s permanent publisher in October.
