Former Forrest City Mayor Promoted at Arvest Bank (Movers & Shakers)

Education

Rick Scott, dean of the Honors College at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, has been elected president of the National Collegiate Honors Council.

Terry Tucker Rothwell and Ben Rothwell of Heber Springs, the founders of Celerit, and Jim Murphy of Russellville, a former president of the Arkansas Tech University Alumni Association and creator of Alumni T-Club, have been selected for induction into the ATU Hall of Distinction in Russellville.

Maxine Nelson has been elected president of the Arkansas School Boards Association. Nelson is a member of the Watson Chapel School Board and has served two terms as the board’s Region 11 director. Other elected officers are Jerry Don Woods, president-elect; Steve Percival, vice president; Brenda McKown, secretary-treasurer; and Paul Hance, who will serve on the board as past president.

Bob Evins, vice chair of the Board of Trustees for Ozarka College in Melbourne, has been appointed to the 2013 Association of Community College Trustees’ Communications & Education Committee.

Energy/Utilities

Jeremy Browning has been named site vice president of Arkansas Nuclear One in Russellville by Entergy Corp. Browning is no stranger to the site as he had served there for 18 years before moving to Entergy’s Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in Port Gibson, Miss., in 2008 to serve as general manager. Browning will replace Chris Schwarz, who is set to retire Feb. 1.

Financial Services

Gordon McCoy has been promoted from staff auditor to community bank lender at Arvest Bank in central Arkansas. A Forrest City native, McCoy served as the city’s mayor for eight years.

Karen Ruckle of Maumelle has been promoted to senior compliance officer at Bank of the Ozarks, where she will oversee compliance at the bank’s 116 offices across seven states.

Ronnie Peters and Adam Gilbert of DD&F Consulting Group Inc. in Little Rock have completed requirements for the Certified Regulatory Compliance Officers designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers. Peters and Gilbert both work in the firm’s risk management group, where Peters serves as executive director.

David Norris of Benton has been promoted to mortgage loan officer at Arvest Bank in central Arkansas. Before becoming a mortgage lending trainee, Norris served as an assistant branch manager.

Government

Blake Perry has been named interim president of the Arkansas Science & Technology Authority board of directors. Perry has been with the agency for four years, having served as vice president of research and executive vice president. In addition, Andy Capel has joined the agency’s staff as marketing manager for Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions. He has more than 14 years of marketing experience, including stints at the Little Rock Parks & Recreation Department, Outward Bound and the Hall Group.

Thurston Lamb of North Little Rock and Georgette Garner of Eureka Springs have been elected chairman and vice chairman, respectively, of the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission. Lamb was first appointed to the commission in 2002, and Garner joined the commission in 2007.

Health Care

Drs. Wassim Radwan and Miguel Villagra have earned board certifications in internal medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine. Both men are hospitalists who recently joined the White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Nonprofits

Joe Quinn and Tony Thomas have been named to the board of Goodwill Industries of Arkansas. Quinn is senior director of issue management at Wal-Mart, and Thomas is chief financial officer at Windstream.

Ruthanne Hill has been named executive director of the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund. She succeeds the founder and 22-year director, Ralph H. Nesson, who will retire in February.

Heather Marie Wells, the education technology coordinator for Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, has been elected to serve a three-year term as director of the Southeast Museums Conference.

Real Estate

Zac Qualls and Brandi Sanders have joined Haag Brown Commercial of Jonesboro. Qualls has been hired as an executive adviser. Prior to the move, he served as a universal banker at IberiaBank. Sanders joined the company as an executive assistant. n
