Sparks Health System of Fort Smith added its first urology group for an undisclosed price.

Sparks bought the Urology Group of Western Arkansas on Jan. 1 and renamed it Sparks Urology Group, according to a news release from the hospital.

The Fort Smith urology group has three board-certified urologists, a physician’s assistant and an advanced practice nurse.

The move will help Sparks attract more urologists to the area, said Sparks spokeswoman Jennifer Dreisbach.

"There's a huge demand" for urologists in the area, she said.

With $803 million in total patient revenue in 2011, Sparks was the fifth largest hospital in Arkansas based on patient revenue. It had a net income of $12.3 million in 2011.
