Randy Dixon will have plenty of history to sift through at the University of Arkansas' Pryor Center.

Working as a consultant, Dixon spent more than a year digitizing video and news film from the KATV archives that were donated to the Pryor Center.

The Pryor Center’s mission is to document Arkansas history by collecting audio and video interviews and images from the people who have witnessed and been a part of the state’s past. Its goal is to make this material available to the public and to students and researchers at all academic levels. As its director, Dixon will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Pryor Center, including hiring, training and supervising the center’s five-person staff, and planning, budgeting and developing means to organize and share the center’s collections. He will also work with the assistant vice chancellor for development to plan and manage fundraising for the center.

Dixon will also be responsible for two major upcoming projects: launching the Arkansas Story Bus, a project intended to generate more interviews with people across the state; and supervising the center’s move to new facilities on the downtown Fayetteville square.

Dixon attended Hendrix College at Conway and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and he spent 31 years in the news department of KATV-TV, Channel 7, in Little Rock, resigning as news director in 2011 to found Dixon Digital Media.
