Custom Aircraft Cabinets, a specialized woodworking and upholstery manufacturer founded in North Little Rock, is marking the grand opening Wednesdsay of its new manufacturing plant in Sherwood.
CAC announced the project in August, saying it would move into the old 194,500-SF National Home Center building on Landers Road and spend $5.9 million to expand its operations. The company has outgrown its North Little Rock facilities, a 38,100-SF plant at 10015 Firestone Lane and a leased 6,200-SF finishing shop at 12819 MacArthur Drive.
The company is adding 150 workers at the new location, and it will employ more than 290 people after the expansion is complete.
CAC, founded in North Little Rock in 1989, provides services for private, corporate and head-of-state aircraft companies across the globe.
CAC’s owners, Mike Gueringer and Paul Reesnes, bought the National Home Center building for $3.72 million from Newman Family LCC, led by Dwain Newman, founder of the National Home Center chain.
Also setting up shop on the property is CAC’s sister firm, Reliable Fire Protection, which is adding 20 new jobs, increasing its employee count to 70. Reliable will occupy about 5,000 SF on the north end of the building.
The project is one of several taking shape along Landers and Warden roads in North Little Rock and Sherwood.
The mix of industrial, hotel, office and restaurants includes a new Courtyard by Marriott at 4339 Warden Road in North Little Rock, medical office space for OrthoSurgeons at 4300 Landers Road in North Little Rock, a 6,200-SF Buffalo Wild Wings at the northwest corner of Warden Road and Silver Creek Drive in Sherwood, and Newk’s Express Cafe at 4317 Warden Road in North Little Rock.
