Did you know the state’s largest pension fund expanded its portfolio of agri properties?

The Arkansas Teacher Retirement System purchased a 436-acre organic citrus farm in central Florida for $5.8 million. We’re told that produce from this operation supplies juice for Uncle Matt’s Organic of Clermont, Fla.

ATRS also bought an 892-acre corn-rice-soybean farm east of Des Arc (Prairie County), known locally as the James Miller Farm.

The $3 million deal marks the second Arkansas farm acquisition by the $11.7 billion-asset pension fund.
