Robby Edwards Leading Branding of UA’s Bumpers College (Super Movers)

Background: After earning a bachelor’s degree from Southern Mississippi University in 1986, Edwards, a native of Pearl, Miss., went on to graduate from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a master’s degree in communications. Edwards also worked as a graduate assistant for ULM, spent one year as a sportswriter for the Lake Charles American Press and served as ULM’s sports information director for five years.

Experience: Before moving to Fayetteville, Edwards was the executive/financial communication coordinator at Century-Tel Inc., a telecommunications company based in Louisiana. He joined the University of Arkansas staff in 2000 and coordinated media operations for the men’s basketball and football teams. He also created and was editor of Inside Razorback Athletics, a monthly publication distributed to Razorback Foundation Members since 2009.

Position: Edwards began his new position as director of communications on Jan. 10. He will work to improve marketing and branding of the college, which centers on food, family and the environment. He’ll also serve as the college’s liaison to the Office of University Relations and continue to work with University of Arkansas media, including websites and publications.

On the job: “I’m excited about joining Dr. [Michael] Vayda’s staff, and developing and implementing plans to share the good news of everything happening in the Bumpers College,” Edwards said in a press release. “The work being accomplished in the Bumpers College leads to a better quality of life for all of us. We have wonderful stories to tell, and I’m looking forward to helping get that information out, and assisting Dr. Vayda, our faculty and staff in increasing awareness of our accomplishments.”
