Anne Grippo has been appointed associate dean of the College of Sciences & Mathematics at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Prior to her appointment, Grippo worked as a departmental representative to the College Assessment Committee and as college representative to the University Learning Outcomes Assessment Committee. She also serves as a research mentor.
Edward L. Smith of Shawnee, Okla., has been named the new director of public safety at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Smith has more than 35 years of experience in law enforcement and began his career at the Oklahoma City Police Department. He currently serves as director of the officer program and teaches at East Central University in Ada, Okla.
Financial Services
Jamie Davis and Jim Moore have joined the northwest Arkansas division of Liberty Bank of Arkansas. Davis has more than six years of banking experience and has worked as an assistant manager and banker. Moore was previously employed as a loan officer, loan coordinator and operations specialist.
Jack Waldo has been transferred to the investment banking department of Stephens Inc. of Little Rock in an effort to expand the company’s transportation team. Waldo joined Stephens in 2000 as a financial analyst before transferring to the Stephens Research Department. The company also recently expanded its Technology Investment Banking Group, which focuses on security and software for large companies.
Daniel Koehler of Little Rock has joined the board of Southern Bancorp Inc. of Arkadelphia. Koehler is president of Koehler Software Inc. of Little Rock and once served as the chief financial officer of Union National Bank of Little Rock. He also worked as a certified public accountant with Arthur Young & Co. in New York.

Michael Heister has joined the law firm of Quattlebaum Grooms Tull & Burrow in Little Rock. Heister practiced law in Washington, D.C., for nine years with the Environmental Defense Section of the U.S. Department of Justice and was awarded the EPA Gold Medal for Exceptional Service. His practice focuses on civil litigation, environmental compliance and appeals.
Nonprofit
Sha Burke-Stephens of North Little Rock has been named executive director of the Arkansas Statewide Independent Living Council. She previously worked as the co-director of compliance marketing for the nonprofit organization Pathfinder and also taught at the Little Rock campus of Webster University. The ASILC has also hired Leann Clark of Little Rock as an administrative specialist. She will be responsible for overseeing most of the organization’s day-to-day operations.
