R. Louis Schneeberger has been named president and CEO of Panther Expedited Services Inc., a logistics services subsidiary of Arkansas Best Corp. of Fort Smith.

Panther has also name Edward R. Wadel as COO. Andrew C. Clarke, CEO and president of Panther since 2007, has resigned.

Schneeberger joined Panther in 2010 as CFO and treasurer. He was involved in the company’s sale from Fenway Partners LLC, a private equity firm, to Arkansas Best. Schneeberger has served as CFO for two publicly traded companies and according to a news release has “an extensive background growing small, privately owned companies into large public corporations by increasing efficiency, improving organizational structure and generating revenues.”

Wadel began as Panther’s chief information officer in 2006. He has “been the architect of Panther’s technology” since the company was founded in 1992, originally beginning as an on-site consultant. Wadel, the release said, “has extensive experience in all aspects of Panther's ground operations and is closely involved with deployment of Panther's equipment fleet.”

Clarke helped Panther grow from a regional expedited trucking company into a global logistics firm. Panther provides ground, air and ocean services to its customers.

“The foundation of our success is in an operating philosophy built on consistent performance and reliability in understanding and meeting the unique needs of our customers,” Schneeberger said. “Those principles and standards will continue as we move forward in serving them and in continuing to be an integral part of the successful and timely delivery of their products."

Panther became a subsidiary of Arkansas Best, a transportation services provider, in June 2012.
