Alice Stewart to Host Political Radio Show on KHTE

2 min read

Republican political operative and former KARK-TV, Channel 4, anchor Alice Stewart returns to Arkansas airwaves on Monday as the host of “The Alice Stewart Show” on KHTE-FM, 96.5, The Voice.

The show, scheduled for 6-8 a.m. weekdays, is part of the Capital City Broadcasting-owned radio station’s new talk and news format. Other programs on the station include shows hosted by Glenn Beck, Dennis Miller, Andy Dean and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Stewart worked as a broadcast journalist from 1991-2005. From 1992-1998, she was an anchor, reporter and weathercaster for CBS affiliate WTOC-TV in Savannah, Ga. From 1998-2005, she was an anchor and reporter NBC affiliate KARK in Little Rock.

In 2006, she turned to politics, working as Huckabee’s press secretary while he was Arkansas governor. She later became his national press secretary when he ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008. She later worked for the presidential campaigns for Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann.

“I’m thrilled to have an opportunity to sit down with the newsmakers and elected officials in the Natural State and talk about the issues that affect people across the state,” Stewart said. “I look forward to engaging in respectful talk with guests from all political perspectives. Together we will put a face and a voice on events making headlines.”

KHTE was a pop music station before it changed to “The Voice” and took over the news/talk programming that aired on its news and sports/talk sister station, KKSP-FM, 93.3, (Fresh Talk). Capital City changed KKSP from its news and sports format to sports only. KKSP is now known as “Sports 93.3 The Source.”

“With both stations, we look forward to providing engaging and informative programming that is relevant to people living in the metropolitan area,” Tatum Owenby, president of Capital City Broadcasting, said.

Last week, Capital City announced that Pat Bradley, formerly the co-host of “The Zone” on Signal Media of Arkansas’ KABZ-FM, 103.7 (The Buzz), had joined 93.3 to launch a new sports talk show. The new show will launch early in May, after the former Arkansas Razorbacks basketball player’s 90-day noncompete agreement ends.

Also new to KKSP is veteran Arkansas TV sportscaster Mike Irwin, who last month began making daily one-hour appearances on Wess Moore and Michael Smith’s sports show “Game On.”
