Kudos: UALR's Angela Sewall Recognized With National Education Award

Angela Sewall, dean of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock College of Education, will be recognized with the 2013 Edward C. Pomeroy Award for Outstanding Contributions to Teacher Education from the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. The award recognizes distinguished service to the teacher education community for the development and promotion of outstanding practices at the collegiate, state, or national level. Sewall, a professor in educational administration, is scheduled to receive the award next week at AACTE’s annual meeting in Orlando, Fla.


The Museum of Discovery in Little Rock has been named a finalist for the 2013 National Medal for Museum & Library Service awarded by the Institute of Museum & Library Services in Washington, D.C. “The National Medal is the nation’s highest honor conferred on museums and libraries for service to the community and celebrates institutions that make a difference for individuals, families, and communities,” the museum said in a press release.


The American Trucking Associations has named three ABF Freight System Inc. drivers Captains of the 2013-2014 America’s Road Team. The drivers and service centers where they are based are Don Biggerstaff, Charlotte, N.C., and Loren Hatfield and Otto Schmeckenbecher, both of Little Rock.


Don White and White Commercial Corp. of Stuart, Fla., have been named the first recipients of the “Friend of Bumpers College” award for outstanding commitment and dedication to the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food & Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas. WCC focuses on futures clearing and grain trading, according to the college. The company helps rural grain businesses improve their profit margins.
