Tommy Maxwell Joins Hardwood Federation Board of Directors (Movers & Shakers)

Tommy Maxwell of Monticello has been appointed to the Hardwood Federation board of directors. He has 35 years of experience in the flooring business and is the president and CEO of Maxwell Hardwood Flooring. Maxwell is also the owner of Townshend Inc. in Warren and serves on the boards of the Arkansas Forestry Association and Union Bank & Trust Co.


Tahar Messadi has been named the 21st Century Chair in Sustainability for the Fay Jones School of Architecture at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. After joining the university faculty in 2003, Messadi became an associate professor of architecture and helped develop the sustainability minor for undergraduate students. He will also be leading a sustainability seminar in Rome this summer.

Zack Higbee has been promoted to assistant athletic director for media relations at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. After joining the Razorback staff in 2009, Higbee shared supervisory duties of the media relations office and served as the primary publicity contact for the University of Arkansas football team. He has also worked in media at the University of Florida, the University of Oklahoma and the University of Connecticut.


Joey Small of Little Rock has been named as one of the Top 1000 financial advisers by Barron’s magazine. Small is a private wealth adviser with Ameriprise Inc., a firm that focuses on long-term financial planning for its clients. He was chosen for the list based on assets under management, revenue produced for the firm, client satisfaction and his regulatory and compliance record.

Belinda Williams has been named coordinator of Liberty Bank’s new Joyce Street Banking Center in Fayetteville. Williams has more than 19 years of banking experience and once served as an assistant vice president, branch manager and financial services officer.


Liudmila Schafer has joined the staff of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. She previously was medical director of one of the clinics at Conway Hematology-Oncology. She also completed a residency at Grodno State Medical University in Belarus and a residency and fellowship at East Tennessee State University. In addition to her duties at the institute, Schafer is an assistant professor at the UAMS College of Medicine.

Abe Martinez has joined the staff of St. Bernards Heart & Vascular in Jonesboro. He previously completed a cardiology fellowship at Parkland Memorial Hospital, part of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He has been certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both medicine and cardiovascular disease.
