Arkansas Orthodontics, which has five clinics in northwest Arkansas, is being sold to Dr. Ben Burris of Jonesboro, who has five dental clinics in northeast Arkansas.

The sale price is in the neighborhood of $8 million and the sale is expected to close this week.

We don’t have too many more details to report at this time. Burris and Dr. Bill Pickard, who owns Arkansas Orthodontics, declined to comment.

Pickard has been practicing for more than 37 years, Arkansas Orthodontics’ website says. Burris operates five Braces by Burris & Associates offices in northeast Arkansas.

He founded Smile for a Lifetime Foundation, which provides orthodontic treatment to children whose families can’t afford the procedures.

(Corrected: The original headline said the practice had been "sold," which is not what the story says. The headline has been changed to reflect the reporting in the story.)
