Little Rock: A Headquarters for Commerce

The Little Rock region is the headquarters of many diverse national and multi-national businesses and organizations, both homegrown and relocated.

Acxiom, with offices in four continents and publicly traded (NASDAQ: %%ACXM%%), the global leader in marketing services and technology was ranked 18th on the InformationWeek 500 and among the top five in Consulting and Business Services.

Allied Wireless Communications Corporation (AWCC), under the Alltel banner, is the longest-running wireless brand in America, serving 800,000 subscribers in six states.

American Taekwondo Association, with 1,500 independently owned and operated licensed schools and clubs, is the premier North American organization dedicated to the martial arts discipline of taekwondo.

Dillard’s, with more than 300 locations in 29 states and publicly traded (NYSE: %%DDS%%), is one of the nation’s largest fashion apparel, cosmetics and home furnishings retailers, and will soon open a new 850,000-SF Internet fulfillment center in the region.

Heifer International, by giving families a source of food rather than short-term relief, works with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth by working in partnership with other organizations in 23 states and 51 countries on five continents and serving millions of families in 128 countries.

The McLarty Companies/RLJ McLarty Landers Automotive, is one of the largest dealer groups in the country with more than $1 billion in annual revenues. Headquartered in Little Rock, the group is led by Chairman (and BET founder) Bob Johnson, Vice Chairman Thomas “Mack” McLarty and CEO Franklin McLarty. The automotive company is also the largest minority owned dealer group in the nation.

Orbea USA (North America) is the continent’s headquarters for the top-selling European road bike and Orca-branded wetsuits and triathlon clothing.

Rhea Lana’s Inc., the nation’s premiere children’s consignment event venue, has 47 locations in 16 states and was ranked by Inc. Magazine as the 65th-fastest growing among consumer products and services industry.

Southwest Power Pool, a nonprofit regional transmission organization managing grids touching nine states, has opened its $62 million, 183,000-SF headquarters.

Stephens Inc., with offices in leading cities across the country, is a privately held independent financial services firm focused on building value for companies, state and local governments, institutions and high-net worth investors.

Windstream Communications,  providing broadband Internet, phone service and digital TV packages to residential customers, as well as products and services for businesses and governmental agencies. Windstream is publicly traded (NASDAQ: %%WIN%%).
