Brandon House May Be Home to New Owner

Brandon House, 1100 S. University Ave. in midtown Little Rock.

That 130,000-SF building at 1100 S. University Ave. in Little Rock that may forever be known as Brandon House is under contract.

We don’t have a price tag yet, although we certainly will if and when the deal closes.

What we do know is that James Barnes hopes to buy it and use about 30,000 SF for his “bread-and-butter” business, BBA Solutions. The company, which sells textbooks to students at 100 college campuses in 20 states, has outgrown its 18,000-SF home office at 12123 Kanis Road.

But that’s just a fraction of the 8.7-acre Brandon House development, which secured a $4.3 million loan that was foreclosed on by IberiaBank of Lafayette, La., a few months back. That loan in default is tied to Jonesboro developer Bruce Burrow and his business associate, Marty Belz of Memphis.

Barnes has some other ideas for the rest of the space, including exploring ideas with the Little Rock Technology Park Authority and/or other anchor tenants.
