Value in U.S. Agricultural Real Estate Increases

The value of agricultural real estate in the nation — as measured by the value of all land and buildings on farms — increased 10.9 percent last year compared with 2011, averaging $2,650 per acre, according to the USDA.

The changes ranged from a 26.7 percent rise in the Northern Plains to a decline of 4.1 percent in the Southeast.

In Arkansas, the value of agricultural real estate rose 9.6 percent to an average of $2,850 per acre.

The value of cropland in the U.S. also jumped, increasing 14.5 percent to an average $3,550 per acre. The value of Arkansas cropland rose 11.8 percent, to an average $2,370 per acre.
