Windstream Names Randy Nicklas CTO, EVP of Engineering

1 min read

Windstream Corp. of Little Rock announced Tuesday it has named Randy Nicklas chief technology officer and executive vice president of engineering.

According to a news release, Nicklas was formerly chief technology officer and senior vice president of engineering for XO Communications of Herndon, Va.

“Randy has a deep understanding of complex telecommunications networks, a wealth of experience leading engineering organizations and a real passion for excellence,” COO Brent Whittington said in the release. “He will help us take the critical next steps to strengthen our network so that it truly becomes the platform for our long-term success.”

Windstream spokesman David Avery said Nicklas’ position was newly created. He said Windstream formerly had a senior vice president of network services, Bill Bellando, who resigned in February.

Nicklas will be based in Little Rock.

As Arkansas Business reported this week, a February report by the Federal Communications Commission criticized the quality of Windstream’s broadband offerings. Windstream says it is working to upgrade its high-speed Internet network.
