Realtors: April Home Sales Rose 13.6 Percent From Last Year

The Arkansas Realtors Association said Wednesday that home sales in April rose 13.6 percent from the same time last year, the largest year-over-year increase since February 2012.

According to the report, 2,209 homes sold in the 43-county area surveyed by the association. That compares to 1,944 sold in April 2012.

In February 2012, the association reported 1,610 homes sold, up 15.4 percent from February 2011.

In April, Pulaski County reported the most home sales with 375, up 7 percent from the 350 it reported last year.

Home sales in the 42-county area's most active counties looked like this:

  • Benton County reported 363 homes sold, up 23 percent from last year.
  • Washington County reported 220, up 28 percent from last year.
  • Saline County reported 121, up 12 percent from last year.
  • Garland County reported 119, up 45 percent from last year.

The association also said the average price of those homes sold increased by more than 4 percent to $159,503. Statewide valuations in April rose by more than 18 percent from last year.
