Pleasant Valley Country Club Goes to Court Over Basketball Court

Pleasant Valley Country Club is going to battle with neighbors who built a half-basketball court in their backyard.

The court built for Little Rock businessman Arby L. Smith Jr. and his wife, Angela, spills over onto the country club’s property, according to lawsuit PVCC filed in Pulaski County Circuit Court.

The construction of the Smiths’ private court earlier this year also irked the country club. Construction workers apparently drove a dump truck with several tons of rocks over the club’s golf course, “causing ruts to be cut into the well-maintained golf course turf,” the lawsuit said.

The club told the Smiths in an April letter to remove the basketball court, but they didn’t do it. So the country club turned to another kind of court in hopes of getting a judge to force the Smiths to remove their backyard amenity from the club’s property.

A message left on the Smiths’ home phone wasn’t returned before press time.
