Arkansas Sees 1.9 Percent Decline in Personal Income

Personal income in Arkansas dropped 1.9 percent in first-quarter 2013. That showing placed Arkansas at No. 48 among the states. The state’s personal income had grown by 3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Personal income as averaged among the 50 states and the District of Columbia declined 1.2 percent in the first quarter of 2013 compared with an increase of 2.7 percent during fourth-quarter 2012.

Decreases in personal income ranged from 0.1 percent in Iowa to 2.5 percent in Wyoming, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

South Dakota was the only state that reported an increase in the first quarter: 1.6 percent.
