Husband-and-wife team Jeff and Kayla Stephens of Cabot have recently launched First Choice Senior Care Inc., a private-pay, nonmedical senior care company serving Pulaski and Lonoke counties.

First Choice offers a range of services that includes housekeeping, transportation and companionship for clients in private homes, assisted living communities, hospitals, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers.

Kayla Stephens has worked in the senior care industry for more than 20 years, and Jeff Stephens has sales and management experience from more than three decades in the wholesale lumber business.

First Choice currently has a roster of 15 caregivers. Kayla Stephens said she personally handles the company’s hiring process, which involves interviews, drug testing and a lengthy background check.

Kayla Stephens’ trust in her employees is quite evident. “I have given all my caregivers keys to my home,” she said. She explained that if she weren’t comfortable giving caregivers access to her house, she wouldn’t want them working in her clients’ homes.

First Choice is a member of The Senior’s Choice, a network of senior care organizations that provides training, documentation and a level of autonomy not offered by other franchises. First Choice is located in the Arkansas Medical Society Building at 10 Corporate Hill Drive in Little Rock. For more information, call (501) 916-9307 or visit FirstChoiceSeniorCare.com.
