Former Lawmaker Steve Jones to Join Southern Bancorp Nonprofit as Senior VP

This Week: Steve Jones, senior vice president of programs at Southern Bancorp Community Partners

Background: Jones graduated from Arkansas State University, where he majored in communication and minored in business administration.

Experience: Jones served three terms in the Arkansas House of Representatives and is a former member of the Earle (Crittenden County) City Council. He has served as chair of the Delta Service Board and president of the Good Neighbor Center, a nonprofit agency in Crittenden County. Prior to beginning work with Southern Bancorp Community Partners this week, Jones served as deputy director of the Arkansas Department of Human Services. He will continue to serve as Gov. Mike Beebe’s designee to the Delta Regional Authority.

Position: As the senior vice president of programs, Jones will focus on Southern Bancorp Community Partners’ community development programs in four Arkansas and Mississippi counties. He will lead the nonprofit organization’s efforts to reduce poverty, increase employment and improve graduation rates in the region. Jones’ office is in Helena.
