Dennis' case prompted Gov. Mike Beebe to call for a review of the state's parole system, and Sharp noted that a state police investigation has begun.

Dennis is charged with capital murder in the slaying of Forrest Adams, 19, of Fayetteville.

The committee is still waiting to see some documents regarding Dennis. The department has said it is illegal for it to release certain documents, so the committee and the department agreed to jointly seek a court order for the papers' release.
