Rosanne Cash

Warwick Sabin, publisher of the Oxford American, shared good news about a performance scheduled for November in the magazine’s recently opened restaurant and event venue, South on Main.

Rosanne Cash, daughter of the late, great Johnny Cash, is scheduled to perform Nov. 23. The singer-songwriter is also writing an article for the Oxford American’s music issue, which is published in December. Cash has an album coming out in January and she will preview her new work at her November performance in downtown Little Rock, Sabin said.

He said Cash “really got the concept” of what the magazine is trying to accomplish with South on Main. That, briefly, is to help bring to life Southern cultural experiences, he said.

‘Little Rock City Limits’?

In other developments, Sabin said the Oxford American was in talks with the Arkansas Educational Television Network about developing for PBS a music program along the lines of the popular “Austin City Limits.”

He sees it as being filmed before a live audience and doing for Little Rock “what ‘Austin City Limits’ did for Austin.”
