Your Whispers staff got a hot-of-the-presses copy of the Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission’s thrilling statistical report for calendar year 2012.

Among other things, it shows that workers’ comp carriers wrote a hair under $241 million in premium in Arkansas last year, an increase of 3.1 percent from 2011.

Direct losses ate up $128.3 million of that premium, for a “pure direct loss ratio” of 53.5 percent, up from the 43.4 percent direct loss ratio in 2011.
