LITTLE ROCK – U.S. Sens. Mark Pryor and John Boozman and Rep. Steve Womack say the University of Arkansas will receive $1.4 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The three say the funding will be used to create a Maritime Transportation Research and Education Center known as MarTREC. The center will be used to expand the university’s transportation research that includes promoting livability and emergency management of coastal and river valley communities.
UA will establish MarTREC as part of the Transportation Department’s University Transit Center program that includes Jackson State University, LSU and the University of New Orleans.
