Daily Citizen Editor Departs

Jacob Brower, editor of Searcy’s The Daily Citizen, announced last week he was leaving that paper for a publishing job in Missouri.

“This is the most difficult decision I have ever made,” Brower said in a Facebook post.

His new job will be publisher of The Monett Times and Cassville Democrat. His last day at the Citizen will be Nov. 27.

Brower said the Citizen’s average circulation stands at about 5,500; the Times and Democrat are each about 2,500. The Times publishes four times a week and the Democrat weekly.

“I really loved the three and a half years I had at The Daily Citizen,” Brower told Outtakes. “I love the White County community, but this was an opportunity too great to pass up. I’m going to miss Arkansas and The Daily Citizen tremendously, but I know they’ll continue to do well after I leave.”

Brower joined the Citizen as editor in March 2010. His previous job was news editor of The Morning Sun of Pittsburg, Kan.
