James Baker New President of Arkansas Osteopathic Medical Association (Movers & Shakers)

Dr. James Baker was inducted as president of the Arkansas Osteopathic Medical Association. Baker is an internal medicine specialist with Northwest Medical Plaza at Sugar Creek in Bentonville.

Dr. Pooja Motwani has joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences at Little Rock as an assistant professor of medicine. A graduate of Grant Medical College in India, Motwani recently finished a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Dr. Deepak Thomas has joined St. Bernards Heart & Vascular in Jonesboro. Thomas holds a degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Belgaum, India, and recently completed a three-year fellowship in cardiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Dr. Daryl Burrows has joined Mercy Endocrinology Clinic in Hot Springs. Burrows, a native of Rogers, is a graduate of the University of Arkansas and UAMS and previously worked at St. Vincent Diabetes & Endocrinology Clinic in Little Rock.

Sonia Fonticiella, Lora Laubach, Lisa Gazaway and Jennifer Schreit have been named to the board of directors of the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Foundation in Paragould. Fonticiella is business administrator of Fonticiella Medical Clinic Inc. in Paragould. Laubach works in her family’s business, Laubach Freight Agency of Paragould. Gazaway is the marketing and business development officer for Liberty Bank of Arkansas. Schreit works in the accounting office of White Office Supply of Paragould.


Beth Miller has been named assistant communications director in the athletic department by the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Miller previously served as sports information director at Lindenwood University in Belleville, Ill.

Paul Leopoulos and Maj. Gen. Jimmie Owens Keenan were honored as Distinguished Alumni by Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. Leopoulos is the founder and executive director of the Thea Foundation in North Little Rock, which runs programs in Arkansas to motivate children through the creative arts, and Keenan is currently commanding general of the U.S. Army Southern Regional Medical Command at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Shannon Roberts, a training manager for the Arkansas Small Business & Technology Development Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, was honored as a State Star for Arkansas by the Association of Small Business Development Centers.


Brian Hodges has been promoted from associate designer to designer at Thoma Thoma of Little Rock, and John Mark Adkison has been promoted from project manager to inbound marketing manager. Hodges, a native of Oklahoma City, is a 2010 graduate of Harding University at Searcy who previously worked for White County Medical Center in Searcy. Adkison, a native of Gorham, Maine, joined Thoma Thoma upon graduating from Harding in 2012.
