Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe is scheduled for a Dec. 9 opening in Bentonville, and the restaurant has applied for an alcohol permit, said Tommy Keet.

Keet is the president of JTJ Restaurants LLC of Little Rock, which operates the chain. Taziki’s opened on Joyce Avenue in Fayetteville in July and also has two restaurants in Little Rock and one in Conway.

The Bentonville store will be in the Shoppes at Fountain Plaza at 1000 S.E. Walton Blvd. It was originally scheduled to open in September, but Keet said that was pushed back because he wanted to make sure the plans, which include a drive-through window and separate cook lines for drive-through and walk-in customers, were satisfactory.

“September was ambitious,” Keet said. “It would have been rough.”

The restaurant applied for an on-premise alcohol license in October, and Keet said he expects to get a preliminary license after the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board meets later this month. The other restaurants have permits, although the Conway location is officially a private club because Faulkner County is a dry county.

Benton County voted to allow alcohol sales this year, and Taziki’s (and many other establishments) is taking full advantage.
