Brent Bumpers Back in the Mix with ‘Wicked Mix'

“One local benchmark account we monitor closely is selling about twice the units per week vs. Brent & Sam’s cookies [back in that company’s early days], which gives me a nice level of confidence in the product,” Bumpers said.

“If we have not doubled our space by the end of next year, I will be disappointed.”

Bumpers has not been idle in the interim between Brent & Sam’s and Wicked Mix. He also owns two party supply stores, one in Fort Smith and one in Rogers. The stores, Party Place, are similar to Party City shops, Bumpers said, but independent. He’s good friends with the owners of several Party City stores in Arkansas.

The Fort Smith store has been open about three years; he opened the Rogers Party Place in September. The Fort Smith location has been profitable for a couple of years, Bumpers said, and “Rogers, as it must do to be profitable, is already outperforming Fort Smith nicely.”

As for the potential success of Wicked Mix?

“Who knows? As they say, past performance is no guarantee of future results. I have hopes that I might be able to pull off something akin to Brent & Sam’s success with this.”
