Christi Batts Will Keep Henderson State Name Visible in Hot Springs

1 min read

As director of Hot Springs Academic Initiatives, Christi Batts will help Henderson State University establish and maintain a physical presence in the Hot Springs area. As part of this, she’ll manage the day-to-day operations of the site’s educational offerings.

“Christi will be a tremendous addition to Henderson as we move toward a much greater presence in Hot Springs,” said Maralyn Sommer, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at HSU, based in Arkadelphia. “She is well-known in the community and is in a perfect position to really help us get our four-year degree programs established in Hot Springs.”

Batts has been vice president for development at Levi Hospital in Hot Springs since 2002 and also taught speech communication at College of the Ouachitas and National Park Community College. Before joining Levi Hospital, Batts was director of foundation development at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and director of development at Ouachita Technical College. She also taught speech communication at Henderson State.

“It will be my honor to make sure that as many students as possible in Garland County and surrounding areas will have the opportunities to finish their degrees in the same place as they work and raise their families,” said Batts.

Batts earned her degree in speech communication from Henderson in 1991. She received her Master of Arts in organizational and interpersonal communication from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1994.
