Arkansas Jobless Rate Up Slightly to 7.5 Percent

The state's unemployment rate climbed slightly to 7.5 percent in October, according to data released Friday by the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services. 

The revised September jobless rate in Arkansas was stable at 7.4 percent. The U.S. unemployment rate for October also rose a tenth of a percentage point to 7.3 percent.

DWS spokesperson Bernadette Coleman said the state's jobless rate represents the civilian labor force declining slightly.

Five major industry sectors in Arkansas added jobs in October, led by trade, transportation and utilities (3,300 new jobs). Since October 2012, six of 11 industry sectors saw growth led by trade, transportation and utilities (7,600 new jobs).
