2 min read

Arkansas State University is preparing for its 20th Agribusiness Conference, which this year includes presentations by Arkansas Secretary of Agriculture Butch Calhoun, agricultural economist David Kohl and J.B. Penn, chief economist for Deere and Co.

The conference will take place Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Fowler Center and the Convocation Center in Jonesboro.

The annual event strives to deliver timely information on a variety of issues important to farmers and agribusiness professionals in the Mid-South.

The morning general session will feature four speakers and a panel discussion. Kohl will make presentations on the effect of global trends on agribusiness and how to prepare the next generation for the family farm business.

In addition to Penn, other morning speakers include Dana Brooks, director of government relations for Elanco, and Michigan State University economist David Schweikhardt.

The afternoon program features the report from Calhoun and three special-interest sessions:

Ed Fryer of Ozark Mountain Poultry will discuss the market for non-GMO (genetically modified organism) corn and soybeans.
  • Ed Fryer will examine livestock market issues as well as developments in the Arkansas poultry industry during the livestock industry session.
