Realtors: Arkansas Home Sales Up 17 Percent in December

Homes sales in Arkansas in December increased by more than 17 percent over the previous year, according to data released Wednesday by the Arkansas Realtors Association. 

The average price of homes sold in the 43-county area surveyed by the group fell by more than 2 percent, from $160,902 in December 2012 to $156,747 in December 2013. Statewide valuations in December increased by more than 14 percent from last year, the group said.

The biggest increase in homes sold was seen in Faulkner County, which saw more than a 50 percent increase to make it the No. 5 market in the surveyed area. The top markets for December were:

  • Benton County, 367 homes sold in December 2013, an increase of 32 percent
  • Pulaski: 341 homes sold, a 23 percent increase
  • Washington: 181 units sold; 16 percent rise
  • Saline: 135 sold, 39 percent increase
  • Faulkner: 95 sold, 51 percent increase.
