Memco and M&M Poultry Equipment officials broke ground Tuesday on a warehouse and distribution center in the Springdale Industrial Park.

The new location will increase square footage, improve product storage space and streamline workflows. The company will move from its current operation on Powell Street to the new facility on East Huntsville Avenue. Memco has operated in Springdale since 1995.

Lance Eads, vice president of economic development for the chamber, said the expansion would increase the company's operation from 30,000-SF to about 60,000-SF.

"This new location demonstrates our 20-year commitment to the city of Springdale and to our customers served out of this location," Rob Middleton, Memco's executive vice president for sales and marketing, said in a news release. "This new facility will be a better fit for our customers and team members."

Memco and M&M are both owned by The Middleton Group LLC, based in Hollister, Mo. The move is hoped to further establish Memco as a fixture of northwest Arkansas' poultry industry. The Springdale facility will also continue to be the company's largest facility for its Memco Safety company.

Memco is a wholesale distributor of safety, packaging, janitorial and other industrial products. M&M is a producer and distributor of quality equipment, engineered solutions and related products in the poultry processing industry.

Memco has offices in Fort Smith, Attalla, Ala., Harrisonburg, Va., and Kansas City, Kan., in addition to Springdale.

Springdale city and chamber of commerce officials were also on hand for the ceremony.

"Memco is an important and long-time Springdale employer," Eads said in the release. "We are always looking for opportunities to assist hometown companies grow."
