Esther McClellan and her husband, Hunter, are joining with business partner Don Henderson to launch a U.S. Pizza in Cabot, with an opening planned by August.

The restaurant will be on Northport Drive in the former El Parian space across from Colton’s Steak House, Esther McClellan said. The McClellans hold the license for the U.S. Pizza in Conway, which had sales of $1.3 million in 2013.

The Cabot license cost them $45,000, which Esther said was a “little bit of a discount.”

“My husband and I started working with U.S. Pizza when I was 16 and he was 17,” she said. Because of the long connection “they definitely have taken great care of us.”

Esther started at the U.S. Pizza in Levy in 1997, and Hunter began work for the Maumelle U.S. Pizza in 1996.

“The reason we do so well is that we have something that everybody craves,” Esther said of U.S. Pizza.

She grew up in Gravel Ridge and knows the Cabot area, and she and Hunter see big potential in a Cabot location.

“It’s a lot like Conway in that a lot of people lived in North Little Rock 20 years ago and now they’re in Cabot or Conway,” she said. “It’s taking advantage of the fact that they grew up on U.S. Pizza.”

And in other U.S. Pizza news, the location at 5524 Kavanaugh Blvd. in the Heights will reopen in early May, according to Chief Operating Officer Drew Weber. It has been closed since late July for remodeling.

Despite the abbreviated year, the Heights location still had sales of $427,839 in 2013, according to tax records of the Little Rock Advertising & Promotion Commission.
