The head of Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s health and wellness business unit has left the company.

Dr. John Agwunobi, who joined the Bentonville retailer in 2007 as president for the professional services division in the U.S., departed late last month.

“He made a personal decision to leave the company, and I can’t speculate to a specific reason,” a Wal-Mart spokeswoman said.

Agwunobi’s replacement is Labeed Diab, whose title is senior vice president and president for health and wellness. Diab had been senior vice president for Wal-Mart U.S.’s Midwest Division.

“In this new role, I look forward to going back to my days of educating customers and offering health care products and services that will help our customers live healthier lives,” Diab said in a statement to Whispers. n
