Attorney General Rejects Wording of Proposal to Make Alcohol Sales Legal Througout Arkansas

1 min read

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas attorney general’s office has rejected the wording of a ballot proposal that would make alcohol sales legal in all 75 of the state’s counties.

Thursday’s ruling by Attorney General Dustin McDaniel said there were ambiguities in the text of the proposal.

The measure, sponsored by David Couch of Little Rock, needs approval of the ballot wording before backers can begin gathering voter signatures.

The attorney general’s office says the proposed wording doesn’t clearly reflect that the ballot item would be a constitutional amendment. The opinion also says the wording is vague in other areas.

The measure would repeal laws that allow counties to conduct wet-dry votes and would make alcohol sales legal across Arkansas.
