KATV Channel 7 Sweeps Associated Press Awards

KATV, Channel 7, of Little Rock, was the winner of the Associated Press’ television sweepstakes award for the 2013 Arkansas Associated Press Broadcasters Association contest.

According to an AP news release, the awards were announced April 26.

The sweepstakes award is based on how many awards each station wins across the contest’s 14 categories. No sweepstakes award is given in the radio contest.

KATV won first-place awards in the categories of spot news, enterprise or investigative, elections and politics, documentary, continuing coverage, sports coverage, sportscast, weather segment, non-spot photography and website.

KHBS/KHOG-TV, Channels 40/29 of Fort Smith and Fayetteville took a first-place award for newscast.

KTHV-TV, Channel 11, took the rest of the TV first-place awards in the categories of non-spot news, feature and spot photography.

In radio, KUAR-FM, 89.1, Little Rock’s NPR affiliate, took three first-place prizes in three of the five categories: enterprise, feature or investigative; use of natural sound; and website.

KASU-FM, 91.9, Jonesboro’s NPR affiliate, took first place in newscast; KTLO-FM, 97.9, a country music station in Mountain Home, took first place for breaking news.
