CrossMar Project in Bentonville Hopes to Impress Wal-Mart Suppliers

Ceremonial groundbreaking for a 150,000-SF spec industrial building in Bentonville will be held July 8 for one very good reason.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is holding an “Open Call” summit for suppliers on the same morning at the company’s Bentonville headquarters.

Wal-Mart wants to spend billions more on U.S.-made products, and the new project is directly across from its distribution center at 5801 SW Regional Airport Blvd.

The building is the debut effort at the 180-acre CrossMar Supplier Park, originally called Gateway Park.

Sage Partners, which is helping develop CrossMar, obviously is hoping to attract some of the potential Wal-Mart suppliers in town to make their pitch.

“It’s not a coincidence,” said Marshall Saviers, partner in Sage’s Fayetteville office.

Sage Partners is in negotiations with a handful of potential tenants, although Saviers expects the building to be a single-tenant unit. Site work is already in motion, with construction by Oelke Construction Co. of Springdale.

The CrossMar building should be open for business in October. There are 11 more sites at the park with room for buildings ranging from 70,000 to 500,000 SF.
