Whataburger is poised to set up its hamburger restaurant in Fayetteville after purchasing two lots for $1.45 million on West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Whataburger Real Estate LLC of San Antonio paid $850,000 for 0.94 acres that used to be the location of an E-Z Mart at 1956 MLK.
Stephen LaFrance Pharmacy Inc. of Little Rock, parent company of the USA Drug chain, bought the property for $794,000 in 2011.
Stephen LaFrance Jr., namesake son of the pharmacy’s founder who died in June 2013, paid $720,000 for the location in September 2012.
Whataburger’s real estate arm purchased the lot next door at 1920 MLK from Brant and Leslie Barnes for $600,000. The former Shield of Shelter insurance building sits on slightly more than a half acre.
The Whataburger chain is not affiliated with the independently-owned Feltner’s Whatta-Burger in Russellville.
