Test Lab Technician


The Test Lab Technician maintains and develops the Optus Test and Repair Lab systems. The position is responsible for developing processes and procedures to test product functionality and document the programming and staging of systems. The Test Lab Technician will be responsible for keeping the Optus Technical Lab up-to-date with new technologies needed to support the sale of products. They will also be responsible for ensuring legacy systems are at the most current levels of software and firmware and functioning properly.

? Responsible for keeping the Optus Technical Lab up-to-date with technologies and compliant in testing Optus products
? Responsible for maintaining bay-face layouts, complete inventories of test/repair systems, configurations and software.
? Assist the Supervisor in using technical manuals and other documentation to develop technical work instructions to assist in staging, programming and troubleshooting equipment and systems
? Training plant personnel in the proper test procedures of equipment.
? Identify and maintain the configurations of software on refurbished systems at time of purchase or sale as required.
? Test, troubleshoot, and program various electronic circuitry and telephony equipment which may include: phones, circuit cards in pre-programmed slots, CPU''s, KSU''s, and test cabinets, Voicemails, data equipment and other equipment.
? Stage and program customer orders
? Meet quality metrics as set forth in the quality expectations document
? Meet productivity metric for each product to maximize output
? Follow work procedures to minimize cost of production
? Other duties or task as assigned by supervisor

? 5 years of experience with PBX and key systems, including installation, programming and maintenance. Must be proficient with Nortel Networks and Avaya systems, NEC and Cisco equipment a plus.
? Vocational Technical College degree in Electronics, Circuitry or Industrial preferred and High School Degree or Equivalent preferred.
? Strong communication skills are required.
? Proficient understanding and use of productivity tools; Excel, Word, Visio and MS Project.
? Continual update of certifications, knowledge and experience of technologies based on Optus needs.
? Must be a team player with a positive attitude and able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills
? This position requires the successful candidate to be able to multi-task, work within externally developed deadlines, and respond promptly to change.
