**Job Description**
The Storage Administrators role is to operate and performance-tune storage platforms across the organization to ensure high levels of data quality, availability, and security. This individual will participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure storage provisioning, efficiency, and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Job Duties
? Experience with SANs and performing related tasks, such as provisioning, allocating, and reclaiming storage resources.
? Work with systems and database administrators to implement storage architectures that utilize industry best practices including Information Lifecycle Management and Hierarchical Storage Management.
? Setup, configure, and perform day-to-day maintenance and administration of all storage and backup infrastructure.
? Install and configure storage devices and corresponding software.
? Implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of storage appliances and stored data assets.
? Establish appropriate end-user access control levels for stored data.
? Perform and test backups and restores to ensure that enterprise data is effectively protected.
? Communicate and enforce, through system procedures, data storage retention policies.
? Follow change control, incident response, and testing processes for modifications to storage appliances and software.
? Anticipate, mitigate, identify, respond to, and resolve issues with storage devices, storage access, and data retrieval.
? Research and make recommendations on storage products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
? Evaluate new technologies and recommend future direction of storage infrastructure.
Job Requirements
? Minimum 5 years storage administration experience
? Must have prior experience as the storage administrator supporting an enterprise-wide NAS or SAN environment. This includes a preference for IBM SVC experience.
? Ability to design, build, install, configure, and support storage servers and management software, including DFSMS, DFHSM, RMM, catalogs (ICF, CAS, and CR Plus), GDPS, PPRC, DTS SRS, and TSM.
? Fibre Channel and FICON troubleshooting experience
? Experience with IBM XIV and IBM v7000 storage
? In-depth knowledge of iSCSI, FC, CIFS, and NFS maintenance and performance tuning.
? Experience with tape/disk drives and backup and restore technologies
? Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
? Strong written and verbal communications skills
? Ability to work a schedule driven project list as well as handle interruptions in a timely manner
? Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment with little supervision.
