Our client is seeking a Network Admin to add to their support team that works on a Next Generation Network bridging legacy frame relay and ATM connectivity into the MPLS cloud and Ethernet network.
6-month CONTRACT position with possible direct hire.
The following skills are required:
? Fundamental understanding of Cisco and Juniper network devices.
? Working knowledge of routers and switches and their associated protocols.
? Working knowledge of the Internet Protocol stack.
? Ability to work in a team environment and perform duties unsupervised.
? Skill in interfacing with customers and service providers alike.
? Ability to use reasoning skills and work through problems not previously encountered.
? Working knowledge of LAN and WAN protocols including but not limited to Ethernet, ATM, MPLS and Frame Relay.
? Ability to provide 3rd level technical support on network issues both to the group and to our customers.
? Ability to provide technical training to the group and to our customers.
? Previous supervision of NOC operations is a plus.
? CCNA) and (CCNP) certifications a plus.
? Coordinates and links computer systems within the Department of Information Systems to increase compatibility and to share information.
? Directs testing and evaluation of network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.
? Consults with management to ensure agreement on system principles.
? Plans expansion or modifications systems to serve new purposes or improve work flow.
? Writes documentation to describe installation and operating procedures.
? Coordinates with vendors and with company personnel to facilitate network system acquisitions..
? Assists in troubleshooting and diagnosing problems on WAN IP networks.
? Interacts with network vendors and agency customers on resolution of events and on escalations.
? Proactively monitors customer data, voice and video networks and the handling of network problems.
? Provides 3rd tier technical support for troubleshooting and for providing preventative maintenance on the voice over IP network, video and data networks, including Quality of Service (QOS) and common issues impacting voice and video quality.
? Reports and advises, on a regular basis regarding, all matters affecting the service being provided to our agency customers.
? Works collaboratively with other Department of Information Systems groups and other coordinating agencies.
? Some on-call duty 24x7 for escalation of problem resolution.
