Computer Support Technician


The Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) is the state's largest agency with 8,200 employees working in 181 county offices serving more than one million people. Employees work in 10 major divisions and five support offices to provide services to Arkansas citizens. DHS is currently seeking to fill the position of Computer Support Technician in Warren, AR.

The Computer Support Technician is responsible for a wide range of activities related to computer support such as maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware and software systems. This position:

Resolves hardware or software problems in response to user questions and requests for assistance by diagnosing the source of malfunctions, recommending corrective actions, and/or consulting with appropriate staff or vendor.
Installs, configures, upgrades, or replaces microcomputer hardware and software for users.
Evaluates and makes recommendations for necessary adjustments to applications to satisfy user requirements.
Provides recommendations on the purchase of user hardware and software.
Assists in planning, preparation, and conducting seminars on software, hardware, network or other computer related topics.
Performs other duties as assigned.

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field. OR Completion of technical training in computer science, information technology, or a related field acquired from a vocational, military, or industrial setting plus two years of experience in computer support.

Prefer 2 ½ years experience in computer support plus experience working in a Direct Care Facility. Must successfully complete drug screen/child abuse/adult abuse and Central Registry background checks.
