Arkansas Women’s Business Center Director


Winrock International’s Arkansas Women’s Business Resource Center (AWBC) is seeking a Director responsible for the management of day-to-day operations of the Center; developing marketing and outreach programs; providing one-on-one technical assistance counseling to start up and existing small businesses; management and delivery of the AWBC training programs, and overseeing the budget for the Center.

The AWBC is devoted to empowering and equipping women entrepreneurs to bring about positive, sustainable change in their business pursuits. It is one of more than 100 Women’s Business Centers (WBC) nationwide, funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The mission of the Arkansas Women’s Business Center (AWBC) will mirror the mission of the national WBC program—to help women-owned small businesses start, grow, and compete in global markets by providing quality training, counseling, and access to capital and other resources.

ESSENTIAL Responsibilities
•Manage all program implementation of the Arkansas Women’s Business Center, including program budget and cost share requirements

•Provide business counseling and group education to women-owned businesses and entrepreneurs considering business start

•Supervise Arkansas Women’s Business Center staff as needed, including program staff, instructors, consultants, volunteers, and interns

•Develop and implement marketing and outreach plan to ensure program goals are met

•Work jointly with Winrock International, Arkansas Small Business Administration, Arkansas community colleges and other partners such as banks, economic development organizations, SCORE volunteers, community organizations and local and state governments to build alliances and promote entrepreneurship opportunities for women

•Develop and implement programs to address client needs

•Complete all AWBC client intake and data entry for counseling and training clients, as required by SBA for programmatic monitoring and evaluation

•Track and analyze activities and outcomes of programs, preparation of grant required reports, and submission of Performance Reports and Financial Reports

•Attend and speak at community meetings and events

•Spend significant time recruiting new clients, especially established women-led businesses

•Ensure that AWBC project and services are delivered in accordance and are fully compliant with the funding opportunity announcement, Notice of Award, regulations, and statute

•Identify funding sources to augment the Center’s budget

Qualifications and Background:
•Bachelor’s degree required, MBA, MPA or Master's degree in related field desired
•Five years or more of professional experience in small business management, economic development, micro-enterprise, and/or not-for-profit management, or a related field.
•Experience in external affairs and community outreach, staff management, and financial management.
•Experience with U.S. Government funding and cost share requirements is a plus.
•Strong marketing and client outreach skills
•Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills
•Excellent client service skills for working with various groups to include clients, staff, faculty, vendors, and others.
•Team player, innovative, reliability, attention to detail, and strong self-initiative.
•Applicants must be sensitive to the needs of a diverse client base.

Note: Position is funded by a grant; employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these grant funds.
